SCHOOL INSURANCE

The Masconomet Regional School District does not provide medical insurance for student athletes.  It is your family's responsibility to provide medical and accident insurance to cover you in case of an accident while participating in athletic activities.

The School District does provide you with the opportunity to purchase an accident policy for either school‑time coverage or 24‑hour coverage.  Forms will be distributed during homeroom on the first day of school.  This insurance will provide excess coverage over and above any insurance that your family presently has.

THE SCHOOL INSURANCE PROGRAM DOES NOT INCLUDE STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM.  FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE REMINDED THAT THERE IS NO BASIC ACCIDENT INSURANCE PROVIDED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

If you do not have any accident insurance coverage, it is highly recommended that you purchase the school‑time insurance before participating in an athletic practice or game.  The exact cost of the policy is unknown at this time as the policy is out to bid.  Last year the base cost was approximately $10.00.  If your family has basic accident insurance, you have the option of purchasing additional insurance during the regular enrollment period that begins the first day of school.

If you would like to purchase the school insurance before you begin your double session practices, please pick up the necessary forms in the High School Office on or after August 18, 2008.  Please return the completed application form and check to the athletic secretary before you participate in the double session practices.

If you have any questions regarding the insurance program, please do not hesitate to call the High School Principal, Pamela Culver (ext 6107) or the Athletic Director, Jared Scarpaci (ext 6195).
