Introduction

You and your family are going to visit Disney World during April vacation!   They have put you in charge of the plane reservations, hotel accommodations and Disney Park passes.

The Task

Your family would like to get the most “fun for their money”. You have up to $5000.00 to spend.  Any of the money not spent will go directly to you for planning this vacation. So try to spend as little as possible on the air fare and the hotel.  They have asked you to research prices for airlines tickets, hotel accommodations and park passes.

The Process

1.  April vacation begins Friday, April 13, 2007 (after school) and ends Sunday April 22, 2007 .  You may choose any 6 days and 5 nights in that time to visit Disney.   Keep in mind that you are looking for the lowest rates possible during that week for airline tickets, hotel accommodations and park passes. You must stay 5 nights.

2.  Your family will consist of 4 people.  You are responsible for finding the cost of four roundtrip airline tickets from a nearby airport (Boston, Providence RI, or Manchester, NH) to Orlando and one hotel room that will accommodate 4 people.

3.  You will use the resources below to research the prices.

4.  In Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheet) you will show the rates comparing three different airline and three different hotels:

·      Create a header for your spreadsheet (title). The title will be Disney World Vacation, your name and the departure and return dates of your vacation.

·      The name of 3 airlines and the price for one ticket.  Use a formula to show the price of 4 tickets.

·      3 Hotels in Disney and the price for a room for 4 people per night. Use the spreadsheet and a formula to show the price of the hotel rooms for 5 nights.

·      Price for one Park Hopper 5-day pass.  Use a formula to show the price for 4 / 5-day passes.

·      Use a formula to show the total of the entire trip.  Show the total in a different color.

·      Use a formula to show how much money you saved (or earned) from putting the trip together.

5.  When the spreadsheet is complete you will create a PowerPoint presentation about your upcoming trip.  The trip will consist of four slides.

Slide 1—Introduction with your names

Slide 2—Airline you chose

Slide 3—Your hotel

Slide 4—Special events that you have chosen for your family that you will see in the Disney parks.

      Be creative with your presentation.
