Students in the Innovative Product Design class were given the assignment to design a prototype for an innovative chair that could be mass produced. Requirements included that the chair hold their weight and also be aesthetically pleasing. The parameters were to use foam core as the main material with the addition of some adhesives. Students focused on the following categories when solving the challenge: Form, Function, Creativity and Craftsmanship. Students spent quarter four brainstorming, sketching, building a small scale model, and constructing a final prototype. The final display in the high school foyer shows the many possibilities of how this challenge was solved by our students through perseverance and innovation.
