UPDATE: Posted 4/7/2020
We hope you are well and your families are staying safe. We wanted to update you on further details regarding the community service requirement for the 2019-2020 school year. Given the current situation, we will be crediting all students with the minimum 10 community service hours this year. We recognize that many opportunities that were planned for were cancelled or unavailable. Additionally, we realize that this requirement adds increased demands on an already stressful time.
We also know that many students have already completed hours for this year and submitted their forms. In order to honor those efforts, we will allow those students who have completed forms during this year to pay it forward to the next school year. Paying forward hours is not typically honored, so we hope this shows our recognition of your tremendous efforts to continue to make a difference.
As always, we are here to answer any questions you have regarding community service. Please don't hesitate to reach out to either April Cochran (firstname.lastname@example.org), last names A-k, or Robin Wildman (email@example.com), last names L-Z with any questions.
Each student is required to complete 10 hours of community service every year as part of the graduation requirement. While we encourage students to do more hours, any hours completed in the past school years cannot be completed ahead of time for upcoming school years. If you are new to Masco, you are required to complete 10 hours of community service for each year of enrollment at Masco in order to meet the graduation requirement.
A few things to remember:
- Community service hours cannot be completed at for-profit institutions or organizations.
- Community Service hours cannot be completed for individuals in a student’s family.
- Students cannot get paid for community service hours.
Senior Year hours are due by January 15th.
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Year hours are due by May 31st.
