UPDATE: Posted 3/5/2020
We hope you are well and your families are staying safe. While 10 hours of community service remain part of the requirement for the 2020-2021 school year, we recognize that many opportunities continue to be limited given the COVID-19 restrictions and safety measures. If a student is unable to complete the required 10 hours this school year, please know that there is flexibility. Contact your community service coordinator listed below for further information.
For the 2019-2020 school year, all students were credited with the minimum 10 community service hours. Any hours completed during that school year by the student are applied toward the 2020-2021 school year. While paying forward hours is not typically honored, it is important to account for the efforts that students did put forward in continuing to make a difference. This means that graduating class years 2021-2023 will need to submit forms for a total of 30 hours (10 hours each year) to meet the graduation requirement.
As always, we are here to answer any questions you have regarding community service. Please don't hesitate to reach out to either April Cochran (firstname.lastname@example.org), last names A-K, or Robin Wildman (email@example.com), last names L-Z with any questions.
Each student is required to complete 10 hours of community service every year as part of the graduation requirement. While we encourage students to do more hours, any hours completed in the past school years cannot be completed ahead of time for upcoming school years. Students completing hours over the summer months are able to apply those to the upcoming school year. If you are new to Masco, you are required to complete 10 hours of community service for each year of enrollment at Masco in order to meet the graduation requirement.
A few things to remember:
- Community service hours cannot be completed at for-profit institutions or organizations.
- Community Service hours cannot be completed for individuals in a student’s family.
- Students cannot get paid for community service hours.
Senior Year hours are due by January 15th.
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Year hours are due by May 31st.
