• Computer Science and Business Pathway 

    The Computer Science and Business pathway are designed for students that have an interest in programming, website design, computer technologies and/or marketing, finance, business law, and accounting. The curriculum in the pathway program will expose students to multiple programming languages over the course of their high school careers including Visual Basic, CSS, HTML, Javascript, Python and Java and prepare them for college and careers in this field.  The Business curriculum also increases students' awareness and skills and focuses on college and career readiness.  Many assessments will be project-based and adapted to student interests within this pathway.

     Business and Computer Science Pathway Requirements

    In order to complete the Business and Computer Science Pathway, students must accumulate a minimum of 20 points as described below:   

    • A minimum of 2.5 points from Business and Marketing* (1 credit = 1 point)
    • A minimum of 10 points from Computer Science* (1 credit = 1 point)
    • A minimum of 2.5 points from Finance and Economics* (1 credit = 1 point)
    • A minimum of 5 points from Business/CS-related extracurricular activities. 
    • An internship or other capstone project is required to complete the pathway and will earn 2 points.

      *Courses that apply to more than one concentration can only be used to fulfill one concentration requirement.

    Introduction to Computer Science (HALF YEAR, 2.5 credits, CP only)

    Introduction to Computer Science offers a unique opportunity for 9th graders to learn programming and website development. This course will have a heavy focus on coding and developing applications and games to prepare you for the Computer Science field which is growing significantly every year.
     
    Computer Science I OR All Girls Computer Science I : Business Applications and Technologies (fulfills DECA requirement) - (FULL YEAR, 5 credits, CP and Honors)
    Explore the World Wide Web to find out what new technology is in store for the future. Create cartoon and graphic animations with Animation Shop. Spend time using your creative minds to develop eye-catching commercials with iMovie and Final Cut, the same software used for our morning announcements. Learn how to make visually appealing applications and games with Visual Basic. Set your sights high by developing and displaying your web pages for the entire world to see in learning how to code HTML just like a professional.
