• Mission Statement

The Masconomet School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) works to promote and protect the health, wellness and safety of all our students.  The Council works in collaboration with Tri-Town Council, Tri-Town School Union, our families and our community partners to collect and analyze data.  Based on the conclusions drawn, SHAC advises all interested shareholders by providing information, making recommendations for new or revised policies, and suggesting additional programming in order to enhance existing school curricula and services.

  • The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model

SHAC uses the Whole Child Model as the basis to set goals and objectives in working to improve the health and learning of all our students.  This model incorporates the tenets of the ASCD's* whole child approach.  Research demonstrates the health of students is linked to their sense of belonging, membership, and academic achievement.  Using this model, schools, health agencies, parents and communities share the common goal of supporting wellness for every student and its impact on academic achievement of adolescents.
