Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS)

  • What is the Youth Risk Behavior Survey?

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey is a nationally conducted multiple choice survey developed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and is administered biennially at Masconomet MS and HS by Tri-Town Council, in conjunction with the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and Masco staff. The survey has been administered since 2010. The YRBS measures youth attitudes, perceptions and choices regarding a variety of safety and health related behaviors. The anonymous, self-reported results identify strengths, weaknesses, normative behaviors, perceptions and misperceptions that inform and guide prevention education. SHAC uses the data to monitor trends and identify areas of concern or strengths.
